Course Content

Design principles of Communication and Computer Networks. OSI Reference Model and short presentation of each layer (physical, data link, network, transport, session, presentation, application). Physical Layer overview. Data Link Layer: Error detection and correction. Retransmission techniques. Channel allocation in LANs and MANs. MAC and LLC sub-layers. Presentation and Analysis of related protocols. Network: Presentation and analysis of routing and congestion control algorithms. Internet Architecture. TCP/IP Protocol Stack. Usage of simulation packages.
