The Department of Informatics and Telematics offers aspiring scholars the opportunity to pursue a PhD in the dynamic fields of Informatics and Telematics. Each academic semester, typically around the midpoint, the Department releases official PhD Calls, authorized by the Postgraduate Studies Director. These announcements are prominently displayed on the Department's website for a minimum of 15 days.

The thematic scope and specific objectives of these calls are meticulously crafted based on input from esteemed faculty members eligible to supervise PhD theses. These include assistant professors, associate professors, and professors who have not yet reached their maximum quota of supervised PhD candidates. Recommendations regarding scientific areas and thesis topics are submitted to the Director of Postgraduate Studies for approval.

A comprehensive PhD call comprises the title, scientific focus, and a detailed description of the proposed thesis, along with the designated supervisor. Additionally, it delineates the standard prerequisites for enrollment, the requisite documentation, and the application deadline.

Prospective candidates keen on undertaking a PhD thesis must formally submit their applications to the Department Secretariat. The application package, inclusive of all necessary documents and certifications, undergoes a thorough review for completeness by the Secretariat.

Subsequently, the applications are routed to the appropriate faculty members aligned with the respective scientific domains. Under the auspices of the supervisor and with input from two additional faculty members, a recommendation report is meticulously crafted.

Final approval of the recommendation and the subsequent admission of the PhD candidate are subject to validation by the Department Assembly. This forum also deliberates on whether the candidate will pursue their studies on a full-time or part-time basis, ensuring alignment with both the candidate's aspirations and the department's academic objectives.
