Building Supervisor

Georgios Papadopoulos, Assistant Professor

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and ensuring the proper and smooth operation of internal (shared and non-shared) and external areas of each building within his jurisdiction.
  • Informing the Treasurer about all matters related to the security and civil protection needs of the buildings concerning risk management from natural/technological disasters (fire, earthquake, flood, etc.), as well as maintenance, repair, and cleanliness needs.
  • Proposal to the Treasurer for needs related to the operational expenses of the Treasury regarding supervised matters, especially expenses related to minor repairs, minor maintenance, and other expenses for the procurement of items or services necessary for the proper operation of each building.
  • Responsibility for ensuring the smooth operation of the buildings within his jurisdiction, e.g., informing the relevant services about damage restoration, proper maintenance and operation of communication networks, building, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic infrastructure, and their equipment.
  • Collaboration with the competent Vice-Rector, the Treasurer of the School, heads of individual academic, research, and other units, and in general, other personnel of the Institution, for any matter related to his responsibilities that cannot be addressed by himself.
  • Proposal or matters related to the execution of works or arrangements related to the smooth operation of the buildings within his area of responsibility, justifying the relevant necessity.
  • Supervision of regular and emergency staff supporting the needs of supervision, security, and cleanliness of the buildings assigned to his responsibility, and/or coordination of the personnel of financial entities/contractors for security and cleanliness needs of the Institution, exercising the following responsibilities:
    • Monitoring and supervision of the work of supervisors, guards, and janitors, where applicable, as well as cleaning staff.
    • Planning the execution of the work of the mentioned staff or providing guiding instructions for their execution, according to the respective needs, and informing the relevant services of the Institution, following consultation with the Treasurer.
    • Collaboration with financial entities (contractors) and their personnel, to whom the responsibility for guarding and/or cleanliness of the areas within his responsibility has been assigned following a relevant competitive process.
    • Monitoring the maintenance frequency of elevators, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, heating, and hydraulic installations, infrastructure, and equipment of each building, and the execution of works related to the buildings for which he is responsible, for updating the file with the necessary information each time.
    • Collaboration with the Security and Civil Protection Unit, as well as the Security and Civil Protection Committee of the Institution, for security and civil protection issues in the buildings under his responsibility, collaboration, following consultation with the appropriate university services for matters falling within their area of expertise.
