On the weekend of 13 & 14 April 2019 in Karlovasi, Samos, the 3rd Panhellenic Educational Robotics Competition, AegeanRobotics Competition 2019, was held with the support of the AegeanRobotics team of the School of Engineering of the University of the Aegean and the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering.
The 1st place in the AegeanRobotics 2019 competition was taken by the HOT (Harokopio Open Technologies) team that represented the Department of Informatics and Telematics. The team consisted of the students Christos Chronis and Spyros Rallis and was supervised by Asst. Prof. Iraklis Varlamis.
Students designed from scratch, printed on the department's 3D printer, assembled, and programmed the robot Phineas. Phineas is an autonomous service robot with multiple interaction capabilities with users as well as the ability to navigate autonomously within the space. Its construction began in December 2018 and was completed on April 6, 2019. The robot's designs and code will be uploaded to github in phases. The link is as follows.
