Infrastructure

Facilities

In August 2013, the Department moved to its modern facilities in Tavros, near the center of Athens. The six-story building, owned by Harokopio University, was funded through European and regional resources and realized with the significant contribution of the late Professor G. Karampatsos. The Department places strong emphasis on the continuous improvement of its infrastructure, providing a modern and easily accessible learning environment just a few minutes from Tavros Metro Station.

Lecture Halls

The Department’s lecture hall, located on the first floor of the building, accommodates up to 120 people and is equipped with modern multimedia facilities, including a projector, cameras, microphones, and audio systems. In addition, three smaller lecture rooms with capacities of 50, 50, and 36 people support a variety of educational needs.

Labs

The Department’s two computer laboratories, each with 35 workstations, are located on the 2nd and 4th floors and feature modern Linux-based computers with i5 processors, 16GB RAM, and SSD storage. The labs are extensively used for programming courses, while system management is supported through a FOG server.

Private Cloud

The Department has developed its own cloud infrastructure for educational and research purposes, based on VMware and Proxmox technologies. More than 100 virtual machines are currently hosted on the Department’s servers, providing high computing power, 100TB of storage, and support for Linux systems and containers used in research and development projects.
