As part of the course "Digital Services on the Internet", a team from the Department consisting of the undergraduate students Evangelos Boutas, Ismini Veneti, Vasileios Anastasopoulos and the postgraduate student Charalampia Boulougari participated in the pan-European contest/hackathonEUvsVIRUS (24-25-26/4/2020) to seek solutions and applications for managing and addressing the consequences of the pandemic.

The team competed in the thematic category "Health and life", on the topic "Real time communication & prevention" and specifically in the topic "platform for the availability of necessary pharmaceuticals and their remoteshipment" producing the prototype CovidResourceFinder, a service-oriented solution so that providers or donors of material or other organizations can declare the availability of materials/medicines/human resources etc. and likewise consumer organizations to request similar material. The platform undertakes the registration, recording and interconnection of supply and demand in various ways (REST API, UIdashboard etc.) allowing participating organizations as well as supervisory authorities to optimize the use and sharing of resources necessary for addressing the pandemic in real time.
