Tony Wasserman

On Tuesday 30 April at 18:00, a guest lecture will take place at the Lecture Hall of the Department of Informatics and Telematics by Professor of Carnegie Mellon Tony Wasserman.
Prof. Wasserman is the founder of the Center for Open Source Investigation and one of the leading names worldwide in Open Source Software.
In his talk he will summarize the evolution of Open Source Software over the last 50 years.
If you are interested in attending the lecture, you can register and declare participation at the Athens FLOSS group on Meetup (by clicking the link), so that we can have an estimate of how many will come.
Below are the title and abstract of the talk in English.

Title: "Fifty Years of Software Engineering: Looking Back and Ahead"
Abstract: "The ability to develop and deploy large complex software-intensive systems has progressed tremendously over the past fifty years, greatly aided by advances in hardware capabilities, performance, and reliability. As a result, people routinely use applications that would have seemed inconceivable when the term "software engineering" was coined, to the extent that advanced societies are increasingly dependent on their continuing reliable operation. This talk represents an effort to identify and categorize the seminal research projects and engineering efforts that have played a key role in advancing the field to its current state, and to point out some ongoing work that will be central to future advances.
