Dr. Erin Sunha Young is an Associate Professor of Cultural Studies at SUNY Empire State University whose scholarship focuses on popular romance studies, Asian American and diasporic literature, gender studies, and contemporary American culture. She earned a Ph.D. in English from University of Oregon, an M.A. in English/American Literature from San Diego State University, and a B.A. in English from University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her research examins race, ethnicity, whiteness, Asian American identity, romance fiction, and Korean diaspora literature. She has presented internationally at conferences across the United States, South Korea, Greece, and Australia, and has held leadership roles in curriculum development, faculty governance, assessment, and diversity initiatives. In addition to extensive teaching and mentoring experience, she served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Popular Romance Studies and remains active in professional organizations including the Modern Language Association and the Association for Asian Studies.
