Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence (P.P.D.E.)
The Department of Informatics and Telematics of Harokopio University offers students and graduates the opportunity to attend the Study Program leading to the acquisition of the Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence (P.P.D.E.).
The program aims to develop pedagogical and teaching skills by combining theoretical training with practical experience in a real educational environment. Instruction is conducted in the Greek language and leads to the awarding of a relevant certificate by the Department.
Requirements for Students
Students wishing to enroll in the program must submit a relevant declaration to the Secretariat at the beginning of their 5th semester of studies.
To obtain the P.P.D.E., successful completion of the following courses is required:
- Informatics and Education
- Teaching Methodology of Informatics
- Teaching Robotics and STEM Education
- Educational Psychology
- Practical Training
The theoretical courses are taught within the framework of the Department’s Undergraduate Study Program.
Practical Training
The Practical Training includes a total of 80 hours of observation, preparation, and teaching in school units and is organized within the course “Teaching Methodology of Informatics”.
The practical training:
- is mandatory for all participants,
- is not graded,
- is completed with the issuance of a relevant certificate.
If a student has already completed practical training in a non-educational organization, additional practical training in a school unit is required in order to obtain the P.P.D.E.
The Certificate is awarded after the successful completion of all courses and practical training requirements.
Requirements for Graduates
The program is also available to graduates of the Department of Informatics and Telematics.
Graduates are required to successfully complete any of the prescribed courses that are not already included in their academic transcript or diploma supplement.
In addition, completion of the practical training is also required, as provided for undergraduate students.
Application Procedure
Interested students and graduates submit an application to the Department Secretariat at the beginning of each academic year, following a relevant announcement.
Eligible Applicants:
- Graduates of the Department of Informatics and Telematics
- Students who have completed the first two years of studies and owe up to four (4) courses
- Third-year students and above, provided that they owe up to six (6) courses in total and no more than four (4) from the first two years
Selection Criteria
- Degree grade for graduates
- Grade point average for undergraduate students
Participation in the program is provided free of charge, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
Duration of Studies
Participants are required to successfully complete all program requirements within one (1) academic year.
Otherwise, they are removed from the program and a new application is required in a subsequent academic year.
