Προσκεκλημένη Ομιλία Dr. Paolo Burgio - Τρίτη 13/10/2026
Θα θέλαμε να σας ενημερώσουμε ότι την Τρίτη 13 Οκτωβρίου, ώρα 15:00-16:00, θα πραγματοποιηθεί προσκεκλημένη ομιλία από τον Dr. Paolo Burgio, Associate Professor στο University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE).
Next-generation autonomous driving systems increasingly rely on heterogeneous computing architectures combining multi-core processors, real-time components, programmable logic, and hardware accelerators. Such complex systems pose significant challenges in the design and validation as to comply with automotive standards, e.g., ISO 2026, and ISO PAS 8800, especially now that industry is shifting towards Software-Defined Vehicles paradigm (SDV). One of the main showstoppers stems from the fact that modern software development flows are born with Agile methodologies and tools in their DNA. Noticeable examples are SCRUM DevOps, and several state-of-the-art Git workflows, and this causes them not to be ready for the future of industrial automotive, which heavily relies on standardization and certification. This talk will describe current research at UNIMORE that is going towards this direction. It roots in the HAL4SDV project funded by the European Commission under the Chips JU framework program. The presented research shows how coordinated hardware-software design can improve computational efficiency, timing predictability, and scalability in future autonomous vehicle platforms
Speaker bio
Prof. Paolo Burgio got his Ph.D in Electronics Engineering jointly between the University of Bologna and the University of Southern-Brittany, in 2013. His research topics are next-generation predictable systems based on heterogeneous many-cores and GP-GPUs, with an eye on compilers, and parallel programming models. Since 2014 he joined HiPeRT Lab at Univ. of Modena, where he currently coordinates the activities on autonomous vehicles and smart cities. He is co-founder of the HiPeRT srl startup.
